He attended the Royal Academy of Arts in London and by the age of 22 was a full-time artist. He soon gained international acclaim for his work, which was exhibited in London, Paris, New York, and Vienna
His paintings were always described as "impressionistic", but they were influenced by the works of Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Arthur Brown died in London on April 11, 1955.
